Why take this program?
Project leaders in the transportation industry come from a variety of backgrounds and bring varying levels of experience to their projects and their positions. The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) recognizes that in order for any leader or team member to be successful, he or she must develop a solid understanding of the processes and knowledge areas that are common to all projects. In order to facilitate this understanding Caltrans partnered with the College of Continuing Education to develop the Project Management Certificate Program for Transportation Professionals. This program gives project managers the necessary skills to enhance their effectiveness in organizing, planning, scheduling, monitoring, analyzing and controlling a variety of tasks. The courses include both a theoretical and practical problem solving approach to project management within Caltrans and hands-on experience working through Caltrans case examples. How you'll benefit

Program Structure
The Project Management Certificate Program for Transportation Professionals is comprised of 5 online courses and 2 on-ground courses for a total of 144 instructional hours and 14.4 continuing education units (CEUs). Real-world assignments and Caltrans case studies along with a theoretical and practical problem solving approach to project management will help participants understand the processes and knowledge areas that are common to all transportation industry projects. Most online courses require interaction with instructors via online bulletin boards. For the classroom sessions 100% attendance is required. Please Note: Project Management Concepts and Workings (online course) must be taken as the first course in the Project Management for Transportation Professionals, and Application of Project Management Fundamentals (live course) must be taken last in the program.
