American Sign Lanuguage 2009 Summer Immersion Program

Turn Your Voices Off!

In the Summer of 2009, the final two courses of the ASL Certificate Program, American Sign Language 3 (EDS 153) and American Sign Language 4 (EDS 154) will be offered in an immersion program at Sacramento State College of Continuing Education. There is a one month on-line pre-study program followed by an intense two-week no-voice residency. Participants are enrolled in 10 days of class over a period of 12 days. Instruction will be held from morning to night (Mon. - Fri., 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.) and will be taught by three Deaf instructors.

Units:

EDS 153 - American Sign Language 3 (4 Units)
EDS 154 - American Sign Language 4 (4 Units)
Upon successful completion, participants will earn 8 units of regionally accredited upper division college credit. Both courses must be taken concurrently and completed in Summer 2009.

Eligibility:

Participants must have basic conversational signing ability equivalent to two semesters of ASL instruction. You do not have to be enrolled in the ASL Certificate Program to participate in the Summer Immersion program.

Lodging Arrangements:

Participants are responsible for individual lodging arrangements. A list of lodging locations close to campus is available here through the program coordinator at cceeducationprograms@csus.edu


Course Fees:

EDS 153 is a 4 unit course and EDS 154 is a 4 unit course. Course fees for Fall 08 - Summer 09 are $225 per unit
Total Program Fee: $1,800.00 plus course materials
Application Fee (applied toward program fee): $100.00 Application fee is required with application to reserve space in the program

    Application Deadline:

    We are currently accepting applications. The final deadline for accepting applications is Friday, June 5, 2009. Be sure to include the application fee to secure space in the program. Please apply early - Enrollment is limited.

    Total Program Fee Deadline
    Total program fees are due by Friday, June 19, 2009 at 5:00p.m. The remaining $1,900 will incur a late fee in addition to the program fee if not received by the deadline.

    You can pay your program fee over the phone with a credit card by calling (916) 278-6984, Monday - Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. or mail a check to the address shown above. You also have the option of paying for the courses in-person at the front dest of Napa Hall.
