The Instructional Design for eLearning certificate program introduces the skills needed for building coursework for the web. Instructional Design for eLearning is designed to:

• Develop core instructional design competencies for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating coursework according to tested principles for online learning
• Apply instructional design practices and principles within the electronic environment
• Develop and use strategies to lead and manage instructional challenges in a variety of online educational settings
• Provide formal training and development that will provide the professional instructional designer with the tools needed to transition from traditional classroom training to eLearning.

Instructional Design for eLearning was developed for individuals seeking a higher level of instructional design knowledge. The coursework is suitable for individuals already working in the training and instructional design fields, including:

Program structure

Instructional Design for eLearning consists of five courses totaling 91 hours of instruction and 9.1 continuing education units (CEUs). See prerequisite requirement under individual course descriptions.

Sacramento State Alumni Association Members

Current Alumni Association members are entitled to a 15 percent discount for courses in the Instructional Design for eLearning certificate program. To receive the discount, participants must indicate their alumni membership at the time of registration.

ASTD Association Members

American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) members may apply for a 10 percent discount. To receive the discount, participants must provide proof of ASTD membership at the time of registration.
