The 51st Adult Education Research Conference (AERC) and 3rd Western Region Research Conference on the Education of Adults (WRRCEA) is pleased to announce the “First Annual Joint North American Conference” that provides a forum for adult education researchers to share their experiences and the results of their studies with students, other researchers, and practitioners from around the world.
The “First Annual Joint North American Conference” is scheduled for June 4-6, 2010 at California State University, Sacramento. The Pre-Conference will be held on June 3, 2010 and will include African; Asian; and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Allies Diasporas.
Along with the strong educational focus, the AERC and WRRCEA is also a retreat for members of the adult education community where participants will engage in an informal, collegial gathering where all attendees are encouraged to enter into lively debates over the future direction of research in adult education. Professors, graduate students, researchers, teachers, trainers, and administrators are invited to join the discussion and collaborative effort to share theory and practice on the education of adults.
Key conference topics will include race, gender, language, class, socio-cultural and political factors, sexual orientation, white racial identity, identity politics, social justice, perspective transformation, somatic learning, adult learning and development, critical theory, phenomenology, participatory research, historical methods, program planning, spirituality, hegemony and marginalization, critical pedagogy, critical race theory, on-line learning, globalization and internalization, literacy (ABE/BDE, ESL), community college and higher education, corrections, adult participation in educational activities, and much more!
