•  About the Seminar

The Design Senior Seminar is offered to all senior level staff who oversee the development of engineering documents. It is designed to enhance leadership and management skills, introduce effective tools and share information critical to meeting the departments goals. This two day seminar is planned to have 32 different breakout sessions on 4 different tracks, so there will be something of value for everyone to choose from. This year’s seminar has been expanded to give this opportunity to all the design seniors in the State and is being offered at two different times to accommodate everyone’s schedule. If you are unable to attend the July 23-24 Design Senior Seminar, we will offer a second seminar on September 24-25, 2007, also in Sacramento at the Doubletree Hotel. Registration information for the September seminar will be available in August. You will be reimbursed for all travel and accommodations by the HQ Division of Design. Time will be charged to your District overhead EA.

 

•  Who Should Attend

Any senior level staff who oversees the production of project development documents should attend. These documents include PSRs, PRs and contract documents. Typical units who develop these documents are in Design, Landscape Architecture, Traffic, Maintenance, Advance Planning, Hydraulics, Consultant Services or Engineering Services. All seniors in a supervisory or lead worker role should attend.

 

•  Why You Should Attend

As a senior level staff, one of your primary roles is to lead your staff in developing quality products, efficiently and effectively. Taking time out of your busy week to attend this seminar will give you the tools and skills to leverage your efforts to do just that. Because it takes a team to produce these engineering reports and plans, your time spent in sharpening your leadership and management skills will produce dividends that will pay off throughout the year. Remember that as leaders, it only takes a small shift in your approach to effect a substantial change in your teams work productivity, quality and satisfaction.
