Who Should Attend

Don’t miss the opportunity to attend the 18th CalWORKs Partnerships Summit. Each year the Summit focuses on creative and innovative ways to ensure the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program continues to successfully meet the needs of California’s families and children. This collaborative Summit offers CalWORKs professionals an exciting array of workshops and sessions designed to expand their knowledge and boost their success in delivering a spectrum of welfare-to-work services. Join your colleagues from the community colleges, mental health and substance abuse treatment agencies, workforce development organizations and social service departments to network and share strategies to successfully engage participants and promote their self-sufficiency.

The Summit’s Purpose

Reauthorization of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program created significant changes to the CalWORKs program with a renewed emphasis on work activities. The Summit’s multitude of workshops will highlight best practices from all disciplines focusing on "CalWORKs Transformation - Getting California to Work." With scenic San Francisco as a backdrop, the Summit offers a wonderful time to learn, experience and share new ideas, and create new contacts to foster your effectiveness as a CalWORKs professional.

The Summit’s Program

Strong collaboration of social service agencies and multiple partners ensures the success of the CalWORKs program statewide. With this in mind, the Summit’s program offers general sessions, workshops and courses with continuing education units (CEUs) geared specifically for all CalWORKs professionals. All presenters and trainers bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Summit. They will share their unique perspectives about what’s working in the CalWORKs program and share new ideas to improve the program’s effectiveness.
