Goals and Objectives:

At the Infant Audiology Symposium you will have the educational opportunity to collaborate with professionals currently working with the pediatric population as well as discuss with other licensed audiologists in the State of California the following topics:

 

  • The Joint Commission on Infant Hearing (JCIH) 2007 Position Paper
  • Current standards of practice for infant audiologic assessments
  • Diagnostic protocol for newborns referred from NHSP
  • Risk factors for late onset hearing loss and recommendations for monitoring changes in hearing
  • Treatment options, including early intervention, services for parents, amplification and cochlear implants
  • The Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Board’s position on the importance of maintaining the current standard of care.

 

By the end of the Infant Audiology Symposium participants will understand the diagnostic procedures, treatment options, and will participate in updating the current California Infant Audiology Assessment Guidelines.
