Are you a TBI survivor, family member or caregiver, service provider or advocate?

If so, the California Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the California Traumatic Brain Injury (CTBI) Advisory Board invite you to attend a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Community Meeting during the month of October 2009.

We want your input and opinions on TBI community-based services where you live.

Meetings will be held in various cities throughout California.  Click the In-Person Meeting Schedule for dates and locations.

If you cannot attend a meeting, you can participate in one of two toll-free statewide conference calls. Click the Conference Call Schedule for date and times.

This is an opportunity for you to help the Department of Mental Health and TBI Advisory Board create a more complete list of needed TBI community services. We will be asking the following questions:

  1. Of the services you use or have used, what was covered / reimbursed under insurance and what wasn't?
  2. What services are missing – that is, are there any services you have needed that you could not find? and for whom (which specific communities or populations)?
  3. What are the barriers to existing services and to development of new services?
  4. Who are the providers of existing services? Who can be providers – what are their qualifications – for new services?
  5. What opportunities are there at the local level for collaboration to better serve persons, long-term, with TBI?

Meeting participant feedback will be included in a report to be issued in early 2010.

There is no fee to participate in the Community Stakeholder Meetings or conference calls. To register, complete the registration form and submit it electronically.

These Meetings are accessible to individuals with disabilities.  Language translation and sign language interpretation can be provided if you request it when you register.

Requests must be made one week in advance of the Meeting.
