Dear Colleagues,
On June 3-4, 2008, The California Department of Public Health is convening a Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Summit in Sacramento for local health departments and their partners. The theme of the Summit is Strengthening Local Communication and Collaboration; the Summit goal is to focus on best practices and planning strategies by strengthening local response capabilities related to large scale Point of Dispensing activities such as mass dispensing and vaccination campaigns.
The Summit agenda will include presentations on the legal implications of mass dispensing; dispensing models; private partnership collaboration; security; volunteer recruitment; training and exercises; inventory management systems; special populations; mental health considerations; developing partnership agreements; and lessons learned from recent events. There will also be a special break-out session for those new to local SNS planning. Conference presenters include federal and state SNS officials and local health department staff speaking about their best practices.
Because space is limited, each local health department is assigned three spaces at the Summit. We encourage local health departments to allocate these spaces to their managers responsible for SNS operations and representatives from local law enforcement partners.
If you have questions about the Summit, please contact Jan Perez at 916 437-8163.
