Dear RMDZ Workshop Attendee:
It is our pleasure to invite you to the California Integrated Waste Management Board’s (CIWMB) “Zone Works” training workshop at the Doubletree Hotel, Sacramento, CA on June 12-13, 2008.
Our exciting topic for this Zone Works is Climate Change. As many of you are aware, climate change is the top environmental issue of the decade. California has been leading the way to significantly reduce the production of Green House Gasses first with the Governor’s Executive Order of 2005, and subsequent enactment of Assembly Bill 32, by the State Legislature to reduce green house gasses to 1990 levels by 2010 (a 25% reduction) and 80% by 2050. Implementing additional diversion programs and establishing local recycling manufacturers will play a significant part in reducing Green House Gases and providing regional economic benefits.
The goal of the workshop is to provide a broad overview of Climate Change; its specific economic and environmental benefits to the RMDZ Program, impacts specific statutes and regulations may have on your businesses and provide tools for quantifying those benefits.
We strongly encourage you to attend and see how the impacts of Climate Change can benefit your RMDZ program. Also, please invite others on your RMDZ team to what will be an interesting dialogue. A Board Member and Howard Levenson, Program Director for the Sustainability Program, will be in attendance - don’t miss an opportunity to meet and chat with them! We look forward to a successful event and hope to see you in Sacramento on June 12th and 13th!
Sincerely,
John D. Smith, Branch Manager
