ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

 

You are invited to attend the California Capital Lesson Study Conference, which will be held Friday, May 16, 2008 on the Sacramento State campus. The goal of the conference is to provide an engaging forum for teachers and administrators to learn about the process of lesson study, for lesson study teams and researchers to share their work, and for policy-makers to think about the possibilities of lesson study as a tool for building collaborative professional communities, improving instruction, and increasing student achievement.

 

Some of the conference highlights include:

 

  • Keynote, Catherine Lewis, Ph.D., Principal Investigator, Lesson Study Group and Senior Research Scientist at Mills College;
  • Breakout session strands that include: elementary mathematics, elementary science, secondary
    mathematics, secondary science, other academic subjects, introduction to lesson study, research on lesson study, managing lesson study programs, as well as ways administrators might support lesson study;
  • Presentations by lesson study teams, professional developers, and administrators;
  • Networking and idea sharing opportunities.
