| Introduction |
| |
With the November 2006 passage of Proposition 1E (the Disaster Preparedness and Flood Prevention Bond Act of 2006) and Proposition 84 (the Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and Supply, Flood Control, River and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006), the State of California now has significant dedicated funding available for the next ten years to embark on a new era of rebuilding and improving the State’s flood management infrastructure. The rebuilding effort will be done in partnership with local and federal agencies, with most activities and projects requiring cost sharing from non-State sources. Allocation of bond funds will be guided by a statewide strategic planning process that will engage stakeholders and all levels of governmental entities to ensure the funds are used for the best public benefit. Emerging details about all aspects of the floodSAFE California Initiative will be posted on the floodSAFE California website at www.floodsafe.water.ca.gov as they become available.
