Teacher Program
There will be two workshops for teachers to attend while the girls are enjoying the Expanding Your Horizons conference experience.


Morning Workshop: Classroom Strategies for Engaging Young Women in STEM Curriculum, Majors and Careers

Jean Crowder, Sacramento State/ UC Davis Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Center
Experienced classroom teachers and administrators will present proven strategies that support classroom direct instruction and introduce non-traditional teaching venues that will engage young girls and students from urban school sites in STEM curriculum, coursework, college majors and careers.

 

Afternoon Workshop: Science in the River City: Teachers’ Opportunity to learn More Science

In this workshop, science teachers attending the conference will have the opportunity to engage in some inquiry science for themselves.   They will learn about opportunities for extending both their science content knowledge and developing their instructional repertoire through Science in the River City (SIRC).  SIRC is a professional development program offering monthly after-school workshops for 3rd through 12th grade teachers at Sacramento State.

 

The Teacher Program will cost $20 and will include a standard box lunch. Teachers can register below.

 

 

Parent Program
There will be two workshops for parent / guardians to attend while their girls are enjoying the entire Expanding Your Horizons conference experience.

 

Morning Workshop: Paving Your Way to College

Doris Tormes, Sacramento State Office of Admissions & Outreach
Parents who attend this session will learn about successful strategies, steps to follow, and programs available to help their children meet the challenges towards completing a college degree.  A college education is attainable, but requires planning and preparation. 

 

Afternoon Workshop:  Expanding All Our Horizons

Dr. Melanie Loo and Dr. Susanne Lindgren, Sacramento State Department of Biological Sciences
Come to this workshop to learn new approaches and activities that will motivate your child to pursue coursework in science and mathematics.

 

The Parent Program will cost $20 and will include a standard box lunch. Parents/Guardians can register below.

 

 

Adult Program Registration

Registration Process:

 

  1. Complete the on-line registration form
  2. Print, sign and return the liability form along with conference fee within 7 days of registering on-line to complete your registration.
  3. Once forms and fees are received, confirmation will be sent notifying you of your enrollment in the EYH conference.
  4. Please retain your confirmation and be ready to show at registration the day of the event.

 

Your registration will stay in a pending status for 7 calendar days. During this time frame liability forms and conference fee must be received to ensure registration is complete. If forms and fees are not received within 7 calendar days, your registration will be deleted.
