Synergex International Corporation
A graduate of the University of California, Davis, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science, Michele has been with Synergex since 1982. She began as a Systems Programmer, and then rapidly progressed through the positions of Project Leader and Vice President of Software Development. She was promoted to Executive Vice President in late 1984, achieved the position of President in November 1990, and was named CEO in December 1996.
She was named one of the “Best and Brightest in Sacramento” by Sacramento Magazine, and in 2000, Michele was honored to receive the Woman of the Year Award as the Sacramento Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s top fundraiser. She was named Sacramento’s 2006 Business Woman of the Year by the Sacramento Metro Chamber and one of the “Women Who Mean Business” by Sacramento Magazine in 2007. Most recently, she was honored by Jr. Achievement of Sacramento in the 2008 Sacramento Business Hall of Fame.
Under Michele’s leadership, Synergex has grown from a 20-employee, one-product firm into an internationally recognized software manufacturer with a wide range of products installed in all 50 states and more than 80 nations.
Michele lives in Fair Oaks with her husband Tony, and their son Mark (16). Their son, Matthew (26), graduated from Columbia University and has begun a career in cancer research. Their daughter, Melissa (22), graduated from Loyola Marymount University and is currently working in Sacramento as a Civil Engineer.
Michele is deeply immersed in the Sacramento community, serving on boards that include SARTA, the Powerhouse Science Center, KVIE Channel 6, and the Sacramento Metro Chamber. Her support for the region drove Synergex to create the wholly-owned Synergex Ventures, which recently made a key strategic investment in clean-tech startup Clean World Partners, also based in the Sacramento region, and which years earlier had also provided support to Sacramento-based Altergy Systems. Michele’s employees are also encouraged to give back to their communities and are supported in such endeavors.
In addition to her other contributions, Michele currently holds these positions:
