Dear First 5 Commissioners, Commission Staff and Friends:
It is our pleasure to invite you to the 8th Annual First 5 Statewide Conference, slated for May 31 – June 1 in Orange County, with a Pre-Conference Institute on May 30.
This year’s conference will highlight areas in which our commissions have taken notable leadership – children’s health, nutrition, early mental health, expanded access to quality early care and education, family support, and more.
Plenary sessions and workshops will provide a forum to highlight what First 5 California and County Commissions are doing. We’ll share tools and resources and focus on how to bring the First 5 experience to the statewide policy arena. Outstanding keynote speakers will bring research and knowledge from other states and other noteworthy efforts to meet the needs of young children and families.
This year the conference will include a track specially designed to facilitate Commissioner dialogue within and across regions. First 5 California Commissioners will also participate in state-county roundtable discussions.
The impact of First 5 continues to grow. Evaluation results, at both the state and local levels, are impressive, reflecting years of hard work by all of our Commissions and our partners in diverse communities throughout the state.
This is an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve accomplished and discuss what is to come. We look forward to a lively and fruitful gathering and hope to see you there.
