You are cordially invited to attend the 2007 Information and Education (I&E) Days on June 4-5 in Sacramento. I&E Days are an exciting opportunity for you to educate your legislators about the importance of tobacco programs locally and statewide. Representatives from Priority Population Partnerships, Local Lead Agencies (LLAs), competitive grantees, and their advisory committees and local tobacco control coalitions are invited to participate.

This year we will again organize under the banner of the Coalition to Protect All Californians from Tobacco (PACT). The PACT Coalition is a group of individuals from tobacco prevention organizations and public health agencies committed to reducing the impact of tobacco on Californians. The mission of the PACT Coalition is to educate local and state elected officials about the social, health and economic impact of tobacco and tobacco-related disease in California and to serve as a resource on local and statewide tobacco prevention issues.

A full day of training will kick off the event on Monday, June 4, at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, providing you with all the skills and information you will need to make a powerful impression during your legislative visit. A Monday evening meet & greet will give you the opportunity to interact with invited legislators, their staff members, and your colleagues. On Tuesday, June 5, we will meet in a tent on the Capitol Grounds and the legislative visits will take place.

These visits are a great opportunity to increase visibility in the legislature for our work and an important step for you to build relationships with your elected state officials.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Lauren Green at the Center for Tobacco Policy and Organizing at (916) 442-4299.
