Welcome To Study Abroad

Let the world be your classroom! Our study abroad programs offer a variety of educational tours and excursions to adults 18 and over. Immerse yourself in the culture, history, language and tradition of another country while earning academic credit. During your travels, you will learn from Sacramento State faculty, as well as in-country guest lecturers at host universities.

Any adults (18 years or older) with a passion for exploring are welcome to participate in these programs. To request additional program information, please call the contact person listed with the desired program.

Note about Program Fees and Itineraries 
The College of Continuing Education will not permit any specialized logistical or financial deviations to the fee structure or travel schedule of any study abroad program. All participants will pay the program costs listed, except when additional units are requested. Participants must travel to and from the destinations on the scheduled dates and participate in all program activities.

Independent Travel Study

Earn academic credit for a planned learning experience while traveling in the United States or abroad! Applicants for this program are required to pre-plan the program of study and submit a written proposal for approval at least six weeks prior to departure.

The standards for Travel Study are consistent with regular program offerings. You are required to organize your program in such a way as to reach specific educational objectives. For program guidelines, click here.

1 unit of academic credit may be earned for every 7 days of travel. Participants may earn up to 6 undergraduate credits or 4 graduate credits per year.

Participants must be at or above their junior level of high school upon application.

A faculty sponsor will review the travel proposal and you will receive notification of its approval or suggestions for amendment. The current academic registration fee of $250 per unit (payable to Sacramento State) must accompany your registration form.

Three-Summer Master of Arts in Spanish

Summer 2015 Proposed Site: Oaxaca, Mexico (information coming soon!)

Sacramento State has been offering a very unique Master of Arts degree for over 40 years, serving graduate students and Spanish teachers across the country. All course work may be completed in three summers if no prerequisite course work is necessary. Our summer centers are located in Costa Rica-Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Spain.
