Overview
More than $75 billion is spent annually on conducting meetings, conferences and special events. Planning a meeting, conference or event for an organization or business, whether for profit or not, is a complex process that involves much more than facility selection, menu choices and budgeting. The Professional Meeting Planning Certificate Program provides participants with information about the various elements necessary to the development and implementation of a meeting or conference.Designed in collaboration with the Sacramento Chapter of Meeting Professionals International, the quality and currency of the program are monitored by a community advisory board of meeting planning professionals. These courses offer valuable preparation for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) exam. The Convention Industry Council, which manages the Certified Meeting Professional, awards points to applicants for their participation in these industry-specific continuing education courses. Program Structure
The program consists of eight core courses and two elective courses for a total of 70 hours and 7.0 continuing education units (CEUs). Participants should begin with Designing and Developing Meetings as a program prerequisite. Related Programs and Courses
