About Sacramento, California

Sacramento: The Heart of California

Sacramento is the capital of California and is the home of California’s government and legislature. The city reflects a unique blend of the past and the future. In the heart of this rich historical area is Old Sacramento, an accurate replica of the Sacramento waterfront during the 1850s. Sacramento is truly a bourgeoning city with over a million residents. Its shops and restaurants represent the diversity of the city. In fact, Time magazine noted Sacramento as one of the most diverse cities in the United States. The Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Pacific Ocean create the perfect balance of rugged mountain scenery and provides a coastal retreat if you want to venture out of Sacramento. Sacramento is ideally situated between Lake Tahoe in the east and San Francisco to the west; a short 1.5 hour drive to either destination.

Northern California weather boasts a Mediterranean-like climate with mild temperatures throughout most of the year. Summers are sunny and dry with little to moderate humidity. Cool, sometimes rainy days are common in December, January and February.
