Philip Flickinger
Theater and Performing Arts Academy Instructor


Philip Flickinger, a professional dancer who toured the world, joined the faculty in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Sacramento State in 2013. As an instructor in the Theater and Performing Arts Academy, he brings his talent in dance as well as choreography and drama.

Flickinger is the recipient of a 2014 College of Arts and Letters Student-Faculty Research and Creative Activities Grant for Phuviophile, which features his collaborative research and creative activities with Sacramento State students in music and dance.

He danced professionally with Diavolo Dance Theater in Los Angeles and toured in Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, South Korea, Brazil and the United States. His performances included premieres of new Diavolo pieces commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and performed at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. 

Flickinger earned his master’s degree in dance, choreography and performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his bachelor’s degree in dance, sociology/anthropology from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.  He is the co-director of D.I.G, Dance Investigation Group, with Lorelei Bayne.
