Two New Workshops Join 2016 Lineup

Teens get a taste of college and careers through the Summer Academies for High School Students with hands-on workshops, field trips and mentoring by Sacramento State professors and industry professionals, a program directed by the College of Continuing Education.

The program will run three one-work career workshops Monday - Friday: June 20 – 24, July 11 – 15 and July 18 – 22, 2016

Two new academies will join the summer line-up. In Farm-to-Fork, teens will discover unique careers in food and agriculture in America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital and learn how to help create healthy communities.

In Go With the Flow: Ecology of Water, students will use scientific equipment and approaches to investigate the critters and chemistry of aquatic ecosystems in the Sacramento region while discovering career pathways in ecology, conservation, and the water sciences.

The summer academies returning in 2016 include Health Careers 101, Engineering & Robotics, Fashion, Fire and Emergency Services, Forensics, Theater and Performing Arts, Civic Duty, Law Enforcement, Multimedia Journalism, and Get Bright With Biotech: The Biology of Glow.

Registration opens March 1, 2016. For more information, please contact program coordinator Liz Arellanes at (916) 278-6249.
