It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the untimely passing of Dr. Flossie Pamela Wimbush on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

Dr. Wimbush was more than a respected colleague. She was a dear friend, a mentor, and a guiding light to many within the Sac State College of Continuing Education (CCE) community. Her warmth, brilliance, and generosity of spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Pam joined CCE in September 2019 as our sole Associate Dean, a role that later expanded into Associate Dean of Program Success and Organizational Excellence. In this capacity, she offered steady, thoughtful leadership to several of our core operational teams, including Enrollment and Marketing Services, Digital Learning and Technology Solutions, People and Culture, Facilities, and Finance. Her presence was as impactful as it was inspiring. She consistently brought clarity and compassion to her work.

Before her time at CCE, Dr. Wimbush built a rich and influential career in higher education. Her journey began as an LMS administrator at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and led to meaningful roles at Northern Virginia Community College, Johns Hopkins University, and Hampton University where she served as Assistant Dean of University College and Director of HamptonU Online. Most recently, she served as the Founding Dean of UIndy Online and The Sease Institute at the University of Indianapolis, continuing her legacy of innovation and leadership in online education.

Throughout her career, Dr. Wimbush uplifted individuals and institutions alike. She brought heart to everything she did and made those around her feel seen, heard, and valued. Her legacy will live on in the programs she helped shape, the teams she led, and the countless lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pam’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association, an organization close to her heart.
