The Bureau of Labor Statistics defines “green jobs” as either:
- Jobs in businesses that produce goods or provide services
that benefit the environment or conserve natural resources.
- Jobs in which workers’ duties involve making their
establishment’s production processes more environmentally
friendly or use fewer natural resources.
Job Outlook
The future of “green jobs” appears bright, as interest builds
across government, academia, and the business community. In 2010,
the Bureau of Labor Statistics received funding to further
research this new industry. Currently, green jobs are located in
every major industry, but are mainly concentrated in
construction, and professional and business services.
