Staff Spotlight: The Digital Learning and Technical Solutions Team Powering Innovation at CCE
At Sacramento State’s College of Continuing Education (CCE), innovation doesn’t just happen in the classroom — it’s built behind the scenes by a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to transforming how learning and technology intersect. The Digital Learning and Technical Solutions (DLTS) team is the engine that keeps CCE’s digital ecosystem running smoothly, creatively, and efficiently.
Led by Interim Director Lynda Nakamura, DLTS brings together three specialized groups: Online Learning Services, Data and Web Services, and IT Services, each playing a vital role in supporting faculty, staff, and students. Together, they form a cohesive unit focused on advancing CCE’s mission of accessible, high-quality education for lifelong learners.
“Lynda Nakamura is one of the most organized and insightful people I know,” says Halie Carton, Online Learning Services Technical Consultant. “She’s a good project manager and has taught me a lot about project management during my time with CCE.”
“I think one of the biggest strengths of the DLTS team is that they care about the quality of the services provided to the leadership, staff, faculty, and our students,” echoes Steven Grodin, Senior BI/Data Analyst. “We work well with each other and are able to come together and help each other when times get tough.”
Online Learning Services: Shaping the Digital Classrooms
CCE’s Online Learning Services team helps faculty and instructors design engaging, accessible online learning experiences. From developing multimedia course content to providing pedagogical support, they ensure that online programs meet the highest standards for student success.
Their expertise became especially vital as hybrid and online education continued to expand. With a focus on user-friendly design and student engagement, the team empowers instructors to make the most of today’s learning technologies.
Data and Web Services: Turning Insights into Impact
Behind every decision at CCE is a foundation of data-driven insight. The Data and Web Services team manages the college’s digital presence and ensures data systems are accurate, efficient, and secure. They maintain critical tools for enrollment management, reporting, and analytics, translating information into actionable knowledge.
From streamlining workflows to improving web accessibility, this team ensures that students and staff have seamless, reliable digital experiences that reflect CCE’s commitment to excellence.
IT Services: Keeping CCE Connected
When it comes to technology infrastructure, the IT Services team is the backbone of the college. They manage hardware, software, and network systems that keep CCE’s operations running efficiently. Their work enables everyone — from students logging into courses to staff collaborating on new programs — to stay connected and productive.
Known for their responsiveness and problem-solving expertise, the IT Services team ensures that CCE remains technologically agile in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
A Unified Vision for Digital Excellence
What makes DLTS stand out is its collaborative spirit. Each group brings specialized skills, yet all share a common goal: to empower the College of Continuing Education through technology, innovation, and service.
“I am inspired by the team’s hard work and commitment to better understanding the technology we are surrounded by,” says Steven Grondin. “We are often put into situations where we have to figure out how to do something for the first time and I am truly inspired by the spirit of the people on our team to take on those tasks!”
As CCE continues to grow and evolve, the DLTS team remains at the forefront — driving digital transformation, enhancing learning, and ensuring that students, faculty, and staff have the tools they need to thrive.
“Working in technical services requires nearly constant learning and educational development, so I fully embrace the lifelong learning lifestyle,” Grondin says. “I am a big proponent of education and personal growth, so I feel grateful to work in an environment where I can help contribute to that.”
“DLTS supports the infrastructure of CCE,” Halie Carton adds. “As a team, we ensure that the machinery underlying CCE’s programs runs smoothly.”
