Intensive English Program

Overview

The Intensive English program is designed for non-native English speakers who have a serious desire to improve their language skills, whether for academic, personal or professional success. 

Highly skilled and caring and instructors take an interactive approach to teaching that provides students the opportunity to collaborate with one another and with the local community.  All classes are held on the campus of Sacramento State, providing a genuine American university experience.

American Language and Culture

Overview

The American Language & Culture Program is a flexible program with rolling weekly admission for participants wanting to explore American culture and improve their conversational English skills in an immersive, fun and supportive atmosphere. Students will develop their vocabulary, fluency, understanding and usage of idioms, and intercultural competency through classroom activities and weekly field trips centered on different aspects of American culture and life in California.

Orientation

Our staff and instructors want to ensure that you have a smooth transition to our campus and to life in the United States. During orientation, we will help you become familiar with our university, the city of Sacramento and your fellow classmates. You will take a language assessment test to ensure appropriate level placement. You will also learn about academic expectations and student life, take a campus tour, and receive your student identification card (also known as a “One Card”).

American Language and Culture Program

  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Must have a valid passport and email address
  • Purchase of CSU international student health insurance policy
  • Desire to learn English and be open to new experiences!

Teacher Training Program

Overview

The Teacher Training Program offers international participants a unique experience in the United States. Our program combines classroom instruction centered on relevant pedagogy with well-supported practice in engaging teaching methods to prepare participants for real-world classroom “practicum” in local schools.
