Profile

Dr. Heather Thompson is an associate professor and Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Sacramento State. She is faculty coordinator for the Second Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, a degree completion program coordinated by the College of Continuing Education. She also works as a speech-language pathologist at Sacramento City Unified School District.

Dr. Thompson earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Waterloo, her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Western University and her doctoral degree in speech-language pathology from University of Utah.

Dr. Thompson has presented her research throughout the United States as well as internationally. She is grateful to be the recipient of two Outstanding Faculty awards from the College of Health and Human Services for 2023-2024, including the award for Outstanding Scholarly and Creative Activity and the award for Outstanding Service to the University.
