Japan (JAPN 199)

Program Overview Course Dates: May 26 - June 6, 2026*Students must check in the guesthouse in Matsumoto city, Nagano prefecture, on May 25 and check out on June 7

Through the 2026 summer program at Shinshu University in Japan, you will gain first-hand experience in understanding global food production and distribution processes, fostering a deeper appreciation for diverse agricultural practices and their socio-economic and environmental impacts.

*Students will be responsible for their own air transportation arrangements and costs.

Academic Credit

Receive credit for: 

JAPN 199: Sustainable management of food, agriculture and environment at Shinshu University (Internship)

Prerequisites: No prior Japanese language proficiency is required. However, familiarity with Japanese language and cultural knowledge will be helpful during the program. Students with higher proficiency are also encouraged to participate, but the program is designed to be inclusive for beginners.

Open to undergraduate and graduate students.
